How do I prep for my spray tan?
Clean skin always tans best! About 48 hours prior to your session, exfoliate, wax, & shave as necessary -- doing this the day of can affect your spray tan results. Make sure your skin is free of makeup, perfumes, lotions, & deodorants.
What happens at my spray tan session?
A certified Sunless Specialist will arrive with a three-sided pop-up tent and a hand-held machine. Preferably, tent should be located on solid ground. Prior to the actual spray tan, a pH balancing spray will be applied to help moisturize and enhance the results of your spray tan. The Specialist will walk you through instructions regarding barrier cream application and poses for tanning. Start to finish, the entire session lasts about 15-20 minutes.
What level should I choose?
We offer three levels that are suitable for all skin types. If you are unsure of what level you would like to use, we will make suggestions on which level may be best for you. Results will vary based on individual skin type and pH balance.
What should I wear during and after my appointment?
Whatever makes you feel comfortable! Some clients prefer to wear an old dark swimsuit or thong. Wearing something that creates minimal tan lines is the best option.
NOTE: Female clients over the age of 18 may choose to tan topless or in the nude*. *FDA suggests that mucous membranes are covered (nostrils, lips, genitals)
Put on dark, loose clothing and sandals. Anything tight or restrictive will damage your developing tan (i.e., socks, skinny jeans, leggings, tights, or elastic) and is not recommended immediately after your session. A sweat suit or long cotton sun-dress with flip flops are ideal.
How long after my session can I shower?
We recommend a full 24 hours before showering to get the best results; however, you can shower as soon as 8 hours after the spray tan. A simple rinse with water only is best for your first post-tan shower since soap can ruin DHA.
We do offer a One-Hour solution that allows you to shower anywhere from 1-3 hours post-tan, for occasions when you need to be tan fast! However, the full tan will take up to 24 hours to develop.
How long will my spray tan last?
Typically, your tan will last anywhere from 5-7 days with proper maintenance. It is important to keep your skin moisturized and to avoid the following:
*hair removal creams
*chlorine pools and hot tubs
How frequently can I spray tan?
For those that like to tan on a regular basis, we recommend that you tan no more than once a week. This helps avoid buildup and uneven fading. It is important to remember that your skin needs a break every 6 weeks for its natural exfoliation process to complete and to keep your results even.
Can pregnant women spray tan?
Our solutions are non-toxic and are not known to have adverse effects to expectant mothers. However, we recommend each customer consult with their physician prior to spray tanning.
What is DHA?
DHA stands for Dihydroxyacetone. It is the active ingredient found in all sunless tanning solutions. DHA does not make your skin cells' pigmentation darker, but rather reacts with the top layer of skin to create a sunless tan with its darkening effect.
